Hi Luke,
My name is Donijka Monk, I am a psychotherapist based in the Castlerea area. I work on a voluntary basis with www.olagola.com, an Irish based suicide prevention website. We have been in operation for one year and to date remain self funded. We provide instant support on a fully manned page by trained admins, 20 hours a day 7 days a week. We offer our 80,000 plus members the choice of on page, peer to peer support and also one to one support in private with an admin, The rapid growth of our member numbers and member feedback tells us of the real need for this work and for more to be done in relation to suicide prevention.
We have made every effort to speak with our political leaders, to no avail.
Tomorrow we host an event in the Point Village in Dublin to commerate our first year in operation and to raise awareness our our work and the fact that in these troubled times in particular there is support available. We would be very grateful for any help you could give us in our continued efforts to highlight our work and the very real need for it.
Thank you.
