I like this guy and I admire the way he communicates with honest ease and in an articulative but equally passionate way!
However, as with all newbies entering into the sphere of national or indeed international politics,he may soon learn that there is a significant difference between barnstorming and politicking at this level.
On the subject of taking a 50% pay cut. This is all very fine and dandy; but one must appreciate that if after taking a 50% pay cut and you have only yourself and your c**k to keep, you are still close to 100% better off than you were before you entered the Dail.
As such, I fear that he should have kept the salary as he will most likely be acting "independently" on this one.
Nevertheless, as per my opening statement I like this guy and wish him the very best. The bar has been set so low by the last shower of gangsters, he has a real opportunity to make his mark and to prove that the old stale and aloof method of governing a country is well and truly buried
What would be a very real and refreshing concept, is for the incoming government to offer Ming a no strings attached role as a spokesperson, government representative or ambassador on matters which affect communities or the youth in this country.
A bit radical for some or too utopian for others perhaps, but it would certainly send a clear message to all that the new way of governing would be an all encompassing one and not premised on the nepotistic approach taken by previous governments of this country.
Good Luck to him and I hope that his trip is a good one ;-)

Congratulations!
I'm looking forward to the time when a norwegian politcian will dare to say the same, we have to legalize and regulate all drugs: http://anitanyholt.no/samfunn/ming

As a constituent of Sligo - North Leitrim, I am extremely delighted the see Ming elected. Straight talking, yet eloquent. I can only hope that Luke will look at the current electoral constituency situation in Leitrim, in which the country's smallest population is "gerrymandered" out of existence.

Congratulations on your election to the Dail and on your maiden speech. You reminded me of Charles Stewart Parnell when he made the British Parliament listen to him and won home rule. You have a big role to play for Iteland and I wish you everything good. I am not from your constituency but know that you will work for all of us on this Island. Thank you.

Congratulations on your appointment to Dail Eireann. Your speech on the first day of the Dail was inspirational, full of common sense and thought provoking. I wish you the very best for your political and may it be a long, successful and positive one. The country needs more people like Luke in government who stand for honesty, common sense, bravery and straight-talking politics. RESPECT.

Congratulations on getting in to the Dail, Luke, I would love if I could go out in a public place and have a wee spliff - I'm over 45 so I dont think I'd be getting up to any 'anti-social' behaviour nor have I become a heroin-addict yet !! (gateway drug me a***)
Keep going on the right for Irish people to their own their natural resources and not have it all sold to multi-nationals.
Keep on fighting I'm glad that finally the 'alternatives' have someone to vote for.

Go MING!
Go MING!
Fantastic to see a genuine human, acting in the people's interests, getting elected. I heard your interview on Radio 1 this morning (3rd March with John Murray). Inspirational stuff, especially hearing of
1) your willingness to take 50% of your entitlement in pay
2) giving the other 50% back into the community be it for pools, clubs, and youth
3) not aligning yourself with bull**** left or right politics, and just doing or agreeing with whatever makes sense.
I have no connection whatsoever with Roscommon or Leitrim, but more communities and indeed the country could do with a few more TDs like yourself. It was seeing you on Prime Time that I first heard of you regarding the turf cutting and you made a great impression in our house. A straight talker too. Something sorely lacking in this country.
Good luck.
